Roast pork. Exceptional in a way that is rarely found. I eat at restaurants around the country and I can count on one hand the number of people that can cook pork this well. Get the slow roasted pork with onions.

The service and did were both excellent. We couldn't decide on a dish, so we got the 3-meat sampler, which came with chicken, roasted pork, and steak. The chicken was not a standout, but the other two are great. They were perfectly seasoned, and next time I'll get a full serving of the pork. Buy a bottle of the homemade hot sauce; it's delicious.

Food was delicious! Black bean and chicken soup were good. My boyfriend and I ordered the chicken and rice dinner for two that came with a side of plantains. Very generous portions.

Location: convenient to FL Turnpike on 716 (Port St. Lucie Blvd) Timing: We were there for an an early dinner around 5:45 on a Wednesday evening Ambience: Not fancy, but clean Service: Our server was Brenda - she's fantastic Food: We had pork chunk appetizers - about the best pork we've ever eaten My wife had a Cuban combination plate of chicken, beef, and pork with moro rice which was all around fantastic tasting and generous portions. She had yucca on the side that was prepared steamed. I had a grouper special with shrimp, moro rice (black beans mixed in), with sweet plantains on the side. Again, delicious and rich and the portions were large. Our son(12) had the breaded steak with tostones on the side. We shared the tres leches cake for dessert which was very good but not life changing, and Cuban coffee that was on the extra sweet side. Only downside was that the beer selection was limited and we weren't asked for refils (probably a good idea).

Best Cuban/spanish food in the area. The fried port chunks are a great appetizer. The grilled Grouper with shrimp was perfect. The home made sauces are to die for. This is the best restaurant in Port St. Lucie.

If there was ever a reason to visit the great city of Port St Lucie, FL, this would be it. I loath that I was introduced to this delicacy and then it was stripped away from me as I had to travel back where I came from. : ( If only there was Cuban as delicious in DC! I forget what it was called, but I was there for 2 weeks and I must have ordered the same dish 4 times. It was the shredded beef with stewed potatoes. Highly recommend!

If you like Cuban food you will love El Cubanito! The food is always delicious even after multiple times of eating there over the years.

Stopped there for some authentic Cuban cuisine. Ordered the Cuban sandwich with yellow rice. Sandwich was 7/10 for originality. The bread wasn't fresh Cuban bread although not bad. Sandwich was pressed but had no mustard or sauces of any kind on it. I was presented a number of sauces to try but reverted back to the mustard. Service was somewhat slow but they were busy so I can overlook somewhat.

Solid Cuban food. Service is great and the atmosphere is nice. The pulled pork and fried plantains were wonderful.

Thank you Yelp! We would have never found this little hole in the wall / gem with out you! While you need to go south of here for true Cuban (Miami), this is definitely worth it if you're up north of there. The roast pork was unreal and ended dinner with a nice cuban coffee mixed with steamed milk. Viva Cubanito!

Tried this place for the first time recently. My chicken sandwich and yuca were SO yummy. Plus I work in the plaza and they have the best cuban coffees ready all day :) I would recommend this restaurant and will be back.

Spotted this little spot while driving around searching for a home in the area, my realtor said it was great Cuban food, well being Cuban I had to try it! Strip mall setting, pretty clean, the food was just okay, I had the Ropa vieja ( shredded beef in tomato sauce) meat was slightly hard, lacking seasoning, just okay, we also ordered a Cuban sandwich, ehh not impressed, a steak sandwich very bland, and the croquettes, and stuffed potatoes were lacking flavor, my stars are mostly for the service, very nice and accommodating, owners son was very nice and gave us great information on the area.. However the food was just okay. Nice lunch spot..not a dinner spot.

Very good Cuban food, excellent service, nice atmosphere. I only wish they served you more plantains with the meals but I could have placed an order for extra.

Great service great flavorful food out of 4 dishes only one was so so the breaded steak the rest specially seafood was fresh and delicious.

This is the kind of place I hate to even review. This place is rarely busy, but always perfect. If word of this place gets around I fear this place may change and I love it just as it is. Quite little piece of Cuban at the end of a strip mall. Wait staff is payed back but in a good way. I'm not bombarded or hurried to eat and get my check. They let me enjoy my food and take my time. Great place. Oh yeah and when your done. Cuban coffee! Perfecto!

  • Laura G.

Great cuban sandwich, yucca fritas, picadillo, etc etc. My only issue is that their boiled yucca is not as good as the old place i used to go, but the yucca frita more than makes up for it. Great place.

Authentic Cuban food! Perfect little restaurant to satisfy our Cuban crave. It's about 5 mins off the Turnpike, but worth it!! Excellent staff too ;-) Next time we are passing Port St Lucie- this will definitely be a place we'll go to!

1st great welcome super friendly, 2nd menu was great, 3rd THE HOME MADE HOT SAUCE OUTSTANDING (and they sale it hint hint for locals the refill too). On to dinner. I had the Cuban sandwich pork was perfectly done, my wife and daughter had chicken dish they both raved about. My son in law had Cuban steak (not sure he spoke until his meal was gone). Have to say overall was best meal thus far in Florida. We thank you for having a great meal selection and the great staff.

This is a warm, inviting place with outrageously delicious Cuban food. After your drinks, you'll receive a basket of tasty, soft, buttery bread. The same bread is used on the Cuban sandwich, which my husband ordered and loved. I ordered the special, Grouper with plantains, rice and beans and paid a little extra for the shrimp on top. It was cooked perfectly, served over a bed of chopped onions and drenched in garlic butter. Need I say more? While I thought the food was five star worthy, I did think the prices were a little higher than what I've typically seen at most Cuban restaurants. My meal of fish and 4 shrimp was $19. I really wanted Paella and they only Paella on the menu was over $40. Maybe I'll get lucky and they'll have it on special sometime.

I was here in February and the food was great! Great place for a big group! Can not wait to go back to Florida and eat at El Cubanito!

  • Julian C.

Excellent place in PSL to go for cuban food! Chicken is very good; Bistec empanizado, and Ropa Vieja are great. So are the Chicharones de pollo and carne frita. We've had the Paella at El Cubanito as well, and it was quite tasty! If you like Cuban sandwiches; yes it is true, they do a great sandwich cubano! When you get there they bring a basked of some Yummy toastes garlic infused bread. Lord, I could just go there for that! Thanks to El Cubanito for being committed to serving great cuban food in the PSL community! Que rico!

Overall decent food. Good service. Pricing is not bad either. Often visit this place at least once a month.

  • Elizabeth I.

Good service, food not so. Steak tasted like boiled, not grilled. Coffee tasted burned. I had much better Cuban style meals in other establishments for the same and even less money.

Excellent service . Very quick. I love all the food here. The vaca frita is one of my favorites.

I'm very glad I found this good Cuban cuisine place. Sweet plantains and the Cuban sandwich were good eats on this visit. I look forward to trying other things on the menu in the future.

Delicious cuban food. Great service. Frendly staff. Portions are huge! The only thing that don't make me give them the 5 stars is that they don't have a full bar menu so no Mojito's with my meal. But the food was delicious.

Excellent food! Love the Vaca Frita

  • Moe G.

The best homestyle Cuban food I've ever eaten, cleverly hidden at the ass end of strip mall two blocks north of US1 in PSL. Use Google Earth, CIA operatives or whatever overpriced satellite system you need to locate this joint, but, by all means, seek this puppy out before "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" finds this joint and alerts an unsuspecting populace. We're talking worldbeater lechon (pulled pork), marinated grilled chicken like mamasita used to make, perfect yucca and plantains, the whole 9.... and a super-friendly mom-and-pop vibe. The kinda place that would make Fidel swim 220 nautical miles just to lick the back of the spoon. My only regret is that El Cubanito doesn't have a full bar, because I was just a mojito away from nirvana here. Sometimes, as Tom Cruise once said, you just gotta say , What the f***...so slug down a cold cerveza instead. Desi Arnaz, rest easy my friend. Your spirit is alive and well in Port St. Lucie.

My coworkers and I order food from here at least twice a week.. It's so good and the portions are huge, usually takes me two days to eat all of it! Great to find good Cuban food up here...!

  • Lindsey B.

So good! I had a Cuban sandwich and the hubby had a chicken sandwich with added pork. Hubby commented that it was the best sandwich he had ever had. Our total including one drink, one order of fries, and our two sandwiches came to $22 before tip.

  • Rick C.

We've been going to this place for a long time; and I've got to say the last few times haven't been so great. The Cuban sandwich was dry, and the carnitas; which is usually great, was very dry as well. But most of all the service was very poor. Not very friendly, not very attentive, and not very efficient; and they were not even busy at the time (8 tables with 3 servers). I would normally give them 4 stars, but I'm giving them 3 stars because of my recent experiences. Honestly my last visit was a 2 star at best. I'll give them another chance, but they need to step it up.

I went to El Cubanito for my birthday with a group of six people. Their food was fantastic. I tried the beef empanadas and had steak for my main course. The fried plantains with garlic dipping sauce were delicious. So was the bread that they brought out beforehand. Fantastic food and pretty good service. The rest of my group all asked for their sauces on the side but it came on their steak and shrimp. Not a big deal. Great margaritas and mojitos. My sangria was good, but the fruit in it was canned fruit cocktail.... Great fresh tostones.

  • Eli G.

The food is "ok", however the service was horrible!! The waitress was on her phone most of the time and had a nasty attitude, asked her for a mojito and never got it, there was hair on my friend's food! NEVER COMING BACK!

Born and Raised in Miami . It's places like this that make Port Saint Lucie livable and remind me of home. I've been here quite a few times and they never dissapoint . For lunch , the Cuban sandwich is pretty good. For Dinner, I enjoy the bistec milanesa with arroz moro and fried plantains. My wife usually gets the vaca frita with rice and beans. To top it all of, we usually have a small flan for dessert. I would highly recommend they consider opening a small cafeteria where you can buy pastelitos, Cuban Coffee and some quick items you can grab without having to wait .....Wishful thinking.

Little place in a strip mall with great Cuban sandwiches! cute indoor deco, very friendly waitress and host, quick service. We got a mixed salad, Cuban sandwich (deeeeelicous and came with fried plantain), and a chicken sandwich which came with little potato sticks. All great, and very low price.

  • Brandon M.

I moved up here from Miami not long ago and I just knew I was going to miss out on good Cuban food for the rest of my days :( UNTIL! Until I found this spot! I cried when I bit into the Masa de Puerco (the dish I use to figure out if a place is REALLY Cuban or not) because I knew at that moment life in PSL would be ok. I've been there a few times but I slept on the hot sauce until the last time I went. That hot sauce is everything! You have to try it if you go, please don't be wack and be affraid, it's so worth it.

Great Cuban food and coffee! Friendly staff, very clean. Only place in the area I know of to get great authentic Cuban food!!!!!!

We decided to try this place based on the excellent reviews. I am afraid we had a very different experience. Our bill totaled $29. plus a $5 tip for 2 Cuban sandwiches,2 iced teas and an order of plantain chips. There was hardly anything on our sandwiches but mustard, the ham was just deli meat and wasn't grilled and the pork was thin shredded so little was on the sandwiches that we opened them in an effort to taste it. The service was mediocre as we were not checked on after our food was served until it was time for the check. Sorry but we will not be returning.

I had a cubano sandwich there while in the area with family. It was plenty edible but a little sad overall. I'd drop by here again if in the area with family like last time, but not unless I had to. PS - I loathe Florida. This may masque my experience.

Awesome authentic Cuban food! The half chicken and stuffed cassava are awesome. The chicken was so tender it fell apart, and the skin was saucy and crispy at the same time. Great flavor! Hubby had the Cuban sandwich and loved it. Waitstaff are super friendly and the place is clean with a pleasant atmosphere.

Yummy food. Came here while visiting family in area. The plantains and tostones were good. The rice and beans were yummy as well. Nice portion sizes. Great find. Definitely will come again when we are in the area.

We were in Orlando and wanted to try non-tourist food and decided to try Havana's Cuban Cuisine (haven't had time to post review). The Cuban food at Havana's was a big let down. So during my vacation I wanted to give it another go at a Cuban restaurant. Our last day on vacation we stayed at Jensen Beach and were recommended El Cubanito in Port St. Lucie. The food was excellent and the service was good and friendly. The papa rellenas and sopas de pollo were really authentic and tasty. The papa rellenas was made to order and the crust was really crispy and the inside was creamy. The sopas had really good flavor. The entrees were also very good and the homemade hot sauce was unforgettable. I will definitely hit this place again when I visit the Port St. Lucie area.

I love cuban food and i found this place on here i was so excited to try it me and my mom shared the roasted chicken. and the rice and beans. the meal came with choices of 2 different rices. and a side of plantains my mom complained about only getting 3 plantains with the meal since she loved them so much. but overall we really enjoyed it i suggest trying it! :)

Food was edible, I ordered churrasco steak and it was a very small portion for $20... Not worth it in my opinion. My husband has a Cuban sandwich and wasn't too impressed either. Great atmosphere and service was great though.

I would have liked to give them 2.5 stars. First time at this restaurant. . . I had the slow roasted pork. I didn't notice on the menu that it was going to be shredded other wise I would not have ordered it. It was dry, very dry and when I told the waitress, she brought it back to kitchen and came out with shredded pork with a sauce of some sort and it was much better. I had the papa relleno (appetizer) which was good. hubby had Cuban sandwich and he thought it was as good as Publix. .he was hoping for more. Presentation of meal leaves a lot to be desired. I asked the man who had the steak at another table, if it was tender, and he said not really. I don't think I will go back for a second try, (my pulled pork was 12.95 for.A bowl of rice and cup of beans and 3 plantains). Bathrooms needed cleaning. The servers were very nice.

A legitimate Cuban restaurant with your typical cuban dishes (ropa vieja, Cubano sandwich, rice and black beans etc.) I had a fish Cubano and it was very good! Lightly fried and served on Cuban bread. My girlfriend had a classic Cubano sandwich and it was to die for! Done right and very flavorful. The only down side to this place is, they serve what they call "homemade" sangria, but they put fruit cup pieces in the glass rather than fresh fruit like you would expect. Put fresh fruit in the sangria and I will give this place 5 stars!

Fantastic service great food great plantitoes if I could I would give it a 6 It was worth the trip from California to eat here

  • Lee C.

What a neighborhood gem! Have driven past this place so many times and wish I had stopped here sooner. The pork is amazing as was the grilled chicken. The stuffed cassava aka yuca rellena was equally fantastic. Great friendly service and huge portions at great prices. Make sure you try their homemade hot sauce too.

Great Cuban place! Food is authentic and tasted great.

  • Robert T.

While the location is pure "Florida strip mall", the food is anything but. Everything I have had here is excellent, miles beyond the bland Americanized 'Miami standard'. The black beans are perfectly seasoned, almost but not quite too salty - whoever cooks here has years of practice in the kitchen cooking this food, because everything is seasoned just right. It's like going with Cuban friends to eat at their grandmothers... you have to try it!

    (4)
  • Adam J.

Don Ramon's used to be the only Cuban food in town, but they went out of business, and while I never want to wish ill on anyone, the news is good because some decent food is now here in the form of El Cubanito. The black beans and plantains were perfect, and my whole fried snapper with garlic sauce was perfecto. Great empanada, too. Our kids loved the chicken soup and jambon croquette. And yes, you will be served by a great beauty. Too bad such a gem is in a cheezy strip mall. Why does Florida love its strip malls so? There's just no way to get decor or atmosphere with acoustic tiles above your head and a wall of plate glass windows looking out onto a parking lot.

    (4)
  • J P.

Actually 4 1/2 STARS. THIS IS GREAT CUBAN FOOD!! Yes the strip mall is well its a strip mall but the food and that's what we go for is WONDERFUL. Authentic, well done and at a reasonable price. If you go expecting an 'Americanized version' of Cuban dishes well you will be disappointed. This is the real deal. My personal favorite is the 'Grouper Imperial' basically its grouper & shrimp in a garlic sauce with of course traditional sides, yellow rice, black or red beans....my wife likes the pork and the Ropa Vieja..and I do to.. but the grouper... and plantains.. great stuff.
